Welcome to the Burns Park Foreign Language Initiative’s website (BPFLI)!

What is BPFLI? We are a non-profit corporation of parents of Burns Park students who are working to fund foreign language instruction at Burns Park Elementary School for all first through fifth grade students during the school day. We believe that learning a foreign language is essential, and is best begun at the early stages of education. Research shows that the intended level of instruction not only allows for development of skills in the foreign language but also improves English language arts achievement.

THANK YOU to all who have supported this initiative with your time, enthusiasm and financial contributions!!! We raised $40,000 to begin the program, and Señora Eileen Orta-Alfonso started working with our children in late March 2006. We are currently raising funds for the 2011-12 school year, and we are once again grateful for the generosity of our school community.
